Pergola Design Tips for Ottawa Backyards

Start with placement

South- and west-facing decks get the most afternoon sun. A pergola on that side cuts glare and heat. Keep it close enough to the house for easy access but far enough to allow airflow and not block windows or views.

Size and proportion
